May 10, 2021: Bhagyalakshmi does more than her best to sustain her mother and herself. At 25 she is an SLE patient who lost sight in one eye while being treated for a leg infection. Having lost her father to suicide and with her mother dealing with her own debilitating rheumatoid arthritis, Bhagyalakshmi works during the day and attends evening college in pursuit of a B Comm degree. The monthly cost of medicines (excluding blood work) is ~ Rs. 3,000.

Apr 30, 2022: Bhagyalakshmi underwent cataract surgery a few months ago. She was recently admitted with some complications. Though discharged, she is yet to recover fully.
