About The Open Arms Foundation
Our Inspiration

Farewell Farewell my Friends.
I smile and bid you goodbye.
No, shed no tears, for I need them not, all I need is your smile.
If you feel sad, do think of me, for that’s what I’ll like.
When you live in the hearts of those you love, remember then…. you never die.
A beautiful life that ended too soon is the inspiration behind ‘The Open Arms Foundation’ (TOAF). While it ended too soon, it embodied a life of deep care – to others, to animals, to the environment. TOAF draws its inspiration from that richly lived life, to support people in need of care. This is done by a corpus contributed by and through its trustees. Giving hope to life and enhancing the quality of life of those who need support, is its core mission.
The trustees work as volunteers with the intent to disburse the maximum of all its collections without spending on administrative costs. The key principle of disbursement is supporting people who have less access to traditional sources of help, directly or through other people and agencies. TOAF also accepts donations to make this effort an ongoing one.
Partners
TOAF works with partners like hospitals, on the ground primary care workers and organizations. The focus is on those who are not linked to big donor organizations.
For a start, TOAF is supporting the following areas through St. John’s Medical College Hospital, Bengaluru (SJMCH).
- Paediatric Oncology and Haematology (In addition to the treatment of children with various forms of cancer, SJMCH is setting up infrastructure for bone marrow transplants (BMT) where the patients are in an isolated environment with dedicated full-time nursing staff.)
- Chemo Ports
- Auto immune Disorders
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Chronic Kidney Disease
Additional organizations/persons will be identified by TOAF to focus its efforts on.
